Sebaceous: A small gland in the skin, which secretes a lubricating oily matter, sebum, into the hair follicles to lubricate the skin and hair
Sebum: An oily secretion of the sebaceous glands
Acne: The occurrence of inflamed or infected sebaceous glands in the skin; in particular, a condition characterized by red pimples on the face, prevalent chiefly among teenagers
Sudoriferous: any of the glands in the skin that secrete perspiration
Eccrine: Any of the numerous small sweat glands distributed over the body's surface that produce a clear aqueous secretion devoid of cytoplasmic constituents and important in regulating body temperature.
Apocrine: a large sweat gland that produces both a fluid and an apocrine secretion; in human beings located in hairy regions of the body.
Hairs: The collection or mass of filaments growing from the skin of an animal, and forming a covering for a part of the head or for any part or the whole of the body.
Matrix: the intercellular substance of a tissue or the tissue from which a structure develops.
Hair papilla: a knoblike indentation of the bottom of the hair follicle, on which the hair bulb fits like a cap; it is derived from the corium and contains vascular loops for the nourishment of the hair root.
Arrector pili: small muscles, which attach to the hair follicles in mammals. Contraction of these muscles causes the hairs to stand on end, known colloquially as goose bumps

Alopecia: The partial or complete absence of hair from areas of the body where it normally grows; baldness
Keratin: A fibrous protein forming the main structural constituent of hair, feathers, hoofs, claws, horns, etc.
