Root : a number that reduces an equation to an identity when it is substituted for one variable
Y Intercept : the y-coordinate of a point where a line, curve, or surface intersects the y-axis
Axis of Symmetry : A line of symmetry for a graph. The two sides of a graph on either side of the axis of symmetry look like mirror images of each other
Growth Factor : The factor used when there is a % increase
Cumulative Increase : Multiply all Growth Factors at once
Decay Factor : The factor used wgen there is a % decrease
Exponentail Function : a mathematical function in which an independent variable appears in one of the exponents —called also exponential
Cumulative Discount : Multiplying all the discounts at once
Common Difference : The difference between each number in an arithmetic series. ( Adding)
Geometric Difference : each term is found by multiplying the previous term by a constant.
Quarterly : Once every quarter of a year: "paid quarterly".
Sequential Factors : Multiplying all Decay Facotrs + Growth Factor
X intercept : is the point at which the line crosses the x axis.
Vertex : a point (as of an angle, polygon, polyhedron, graph, or network) that terminates a line or curve or comprises the intersection of two or more lines or curves
Ordered Pair : Two numbers written in a certain order. Usually written in parentheses
Quadratic Fuction : A quadratic function is one of the form f(x) = ax2 + bx + c, where a, b, and c are numbers with a not equal to zero.
Ratio : a ratio is a relationship between two numbers of the same kind (e.g., objects, persons, students, spoonfuls, units of whatever identical
Simple Intrest : Simple interest is determined by multiplying the interest rate by the principal by the number of periods.
Compound Intrest : you work out the interest for the first period, add it to the total, and then calculate the interest for the next period, and so on
Arithmetic : sequence made by adding some value each time
Reflection : one half is the reflection of the other half.
Factor : numbers you can multiply together to get another number
Vertical Shift : A shift in which a plane figure moves vertically.
Mathematic Operation : PEMDAS
Algebra : a generalization of arithmetic in which letters representing numbers are combined according to the rules of arithmetic
