Measures of Central Tendency: numbers used to describe the center of a data set (mean, median, mode)
Mode: the number(s) that appear most often in a set of data
Median: The middle number in a set of data that is ordered least to greatest
Mean: the sum of the data divided by the number of items in the data
Range: The difference between the greatest and least numbers in a data set
Line Plot: The diagram that shows a set of data by marking "x's" for each point
Cluster: Data points that are grouped closely together
Gaps: Space between the plotted data points
Outlier: A piece of data that is quite separated from the rest of the data
Stem and Leaf Plots: A system used when plotting data that involves the place value of the data
Frequency Table: a table organizing a set of data into intervals
Frequency: The number of items occurring in a given category
Interval: On a scale, the difference between the greatest and least value in each category
Scale: Set of all possible values, separated by equal intervals
Histogram: A special kind of bar graph that includes organized intervals
Bar Graph: a graph that uses bars to make comparisons
Line Graph: A graph that uses a line to show values that change over a period of time
Scatter Plot: when 2 sets of related data are plotted as ordered pairs on the same graph
