Solution : a homogenous mixture of two or more substances.
Dissolve : to break up and separate into a liquid so that particles are no longer visible.
Solute : the substance that dissolves (breaks up) in the solution.
Solvent : the substance that surrounds and dissolves the solute.
Concentration : a measure of the amount of solute that is dissolved in a given amount of solvent.
Concentrated : a solution that has a lot of solute in it.
Dilute : a solution that has a little solute in it.
Molarity : a concentration given in moles per liter ( mol/L )
Homogenous : a mixture of two or more things, but actually looks like one thing only (like milk)
Ionic : a substance made of metal and nonmetal elements (like salts)
Polar : a molecular compound that has a slight charge (like water)
Nonpolar : a molecular compound that is completely neutral (like oil)
