Ga Courts' Role In Criminal Cases: to represent the people, society, of Georgia from a act of harm
Indictment: a charge of a serious crime
Grand Jury: a group of chosen citizens that decide if the accused should be charged for a serious crime
Defendent: someone accused with a crime
Defense Attorney: a lawyer representing the defendent
Public Defenders: a lawyer for a defendent who is unable to afford his/her own
Prosecutor: a lawyer that conducts against the defendent in a case
District Attorney/Assistant DA: a public official acting as prosecutor/ senior-most manager in the district manager's office
Arraignment: a legal document calling someone to court for a charge
Four Pleas in Ga: guilty, guilty with explanation, not guilty, and nolo contedere (as someone does not wish to do so)
Sentence: a punishment decided for a defendent
Plea Bargain: a negotiation where if the defendent pleas guilty to a lesser charge, the prosecutor drops a greater charge
Conviction: a formal declaration that someone is guilty of a charge
Deliberation: a careful consideration and act of understanding
Jury Trial/Bench Trial: a case which a selected group of people(jury) make a decision about the defendent/a case entirely portrayed to the judge
