Connected speech: Spoken language in which all the words join to make a connected stream of sounds.
Consonant: Sound like the flow of air is partly blocked by the tongue, lips or teeth when the sounds are made.
Contractions: Vowel shortening in unstressed words and syllable.
Contrastive stress: When you put the stress on a unexpected word.
Diphthong: A movement from one vowel sound to another within a single syllable.
Distinguish: Notice or understand the difference between two things.

Linking: To connect by association.
Minimal pairs: Words distinguished by only one phoneme.

Phonemic chart: Is a chart where the phonemes of English are shown.
Phonology: Is the study of the sound features used in a language to communicate meaning.
Primary or main stress: This is the word which the speaker thinks is most important to the meaning of the sentence.
Rhythm: Pattern of stresss.
Schwa: Name of the phoneme “Ə”.
Secondary stress: This is not so strong as main stress and falls on words which are not so important to the meaning of the sentence as the word with mains stress.
Sentence stress: When you say different parts of the sentence with more or less stress.
Stress: Special emphasis or significance attached to something.
Syllable: A combination of one or more units of sound in a language.
Unvoiced sound: Spoken without using our voice.
Voiced sound: Spoken using the vibration of our voice.
Vowel: Is a sound in spoken language pronounced with an open vocal tract.

Word boundary: where one word ends and the next one begins.
Word stress: It is showed with the symbol ꞌ.
