Security & Privacy - How Not To
14
password : My client asked me to change all his logins. I know LastPass has a password generator, but that takes too long. I figured this was the best thing to change all his passwords to. The easier the better! Plus, no one will ever guess it!
email : I don’t really like talking on the phone, and this is the only way I communicate with my clients anyway, so it’s definitely the best way to verify any sensitive information, such a credit card numbers.
paper : I’m never prepared when getting credit card numbers or passwords from clients, so I always like to write them down on this, or the nearest napkin, and transfer to LastPass later. I’ll throw it away when I’m done.
starbucks : I needed a change of scenery and decided to go here for my favorite mocha latte. I had to run to the ladies room, and asked the nearest person to watch my laptop for me. I didn’t bother closing it or locking the screen because I’d only be gone a minute, and I hate the hassle of logging back in. We should have more faith in people anyway.
google drive : I’m not a major fan of LastPass, and figure since all my client’s necessary information is already on their profile, it’s totally okay to store their passwords here too.
google plus : Community is important, especially here at Z. It’s where we should share everything right!?!
overshare : It’s okay to share your client’s info with your spouse or family. Everyone does it.
responsible use : I don’t think there’s anything wrong with running a credit check with my client’s info. I just wanted to know how good their score was.
responsible steward : In addition to writing client info down on the nearest sheet of paper or napkin, I also like to hold onto information after they leave Z! They might come back OR I might find some other use for their info.
share : I was checking my client’s email, and came across his lab results. I couldn’t help but take a peek. I wanted to tell my pod, but didn’t know if I should. When in doubt, ________ it!
upload : I know my client’s phone number is unlisted, but I figured they want people to be able to find them, so I decided to take the initiative and ______ their info to Whitepages. Rockin ZA right!?!
prime : I was finishing up some Christmas shopping on Amazon, and realized that the gifts wouldn’t arrive in time. I don’t want to pay for expedited shipping, and remembered that one of my clients has Amazon ______. He won’t mind...’tis the season!
calendar : I was chatting with my client’s spouse yesterday, and she suspected him of cheating. I remember seeing some frequent late evening meetings with a certain someone, and decided to share his _______ with his spouse. It was the right thing to do. Us women gotta stick together! And if it turns out to actually be business, no harm no fail.
antivirus : I kept getting a message from McAfee/Norton to update my ________ software. But I just ignore it. I have a basic firewall, and I’m on my home network, so hackers can’t get to me.
