Larynx:The larynx (voice box) is part of the respiratory system that holds the vocal cords. It is responsible for producing voice, helping us swallow and breathe.
Alveoli:The final branches of the respiratory tree, alveoli are where oxygen from the air enters your blood, and carbon dioxide from your body is expelled back into the air.
Trachea:The trachea (or windpipe) is a wide, hollow tube that connects the larynx (or voice box) to the bronchi of the lungs.
Pharynx:The pharynx is part of the digestive system as well as the respiratory system because it carries both food and air.
Bronchiolies: Each bronchus divides into smaller and smaller tubes called bronchiolies.
Diaphragm:The diaphragm in the respiratory system is the dome-shaped sheet of muscle that separates the chest from the abdomen.
Bronchi:The bronchi are two air tubes that branch off of the trachea and carry air directly into the lungs
Heart:The heart pumps the blood throughout the body to distribute the oxygen to all the tissues and to bring the carbon dioxide back to the lungs to be exhaled.
Gills:gill filaments provides the whole animal with an efficient gas exchange. The surrounding water keeps the gills wet.
Operculum:A flap, the operculum, covers and protects the gills of bony fish.
mouth:Air enters the body through either the open mouth or the nose. It travels down the trachea to the lungs, where the oxygen in it passes into the bloodstream.
Epiglottis:The epiglottis is a flexible flap at the superior end of the larynx in the throat. To permit air to enter the airway to the lungs and food to pass into the gastrointestinal tract.
