polygon : a closed figure formed by 3 or more straight lines
parallelogram : a quadrilateral with opposite sides parallel and opposite sides congruent
rhombus : a parallelogram with 4 equal sides
base : can be any of the sides of a parallelogram
congruent : same shape and size
trapezoid : a quadrilateral with one pair of parallel opposite sides
composite figure : figure made up of 2 or more 2D figures
volume : the amount of space inside a 3D figure
prism : a 3D figure with 2 parallel bases that are congruent polygons
surface area : the sum of the areas of the faces of a 3D figure
net : a 2D figure that can be used to build a 3D figure
pyramid : a 3D figure with at least 3 triangular sides that meet at a common vertex and only one base that is a polygon
slant height : the height of each lateral face of a pyramid
statistical question : a question that anticipates and accounts for a variety of answers
mean : the sum of data in a set divided by the number of pieces of data
median : value appearing at the center of a sorted list of data
mode : number or numbers that appear the most often in a list of data
quartiles : values that divide a data set into 4 equal parts
range : the difference between the greatest and least values in a data set
outlier : data value that is much greater than or much less than the median
mean absolute deviation : the average distance between each data value and the mean
line plot : data display where data are marked with a dot or an X over a number line
histogram : type of bar graph used to display numerical data that have been organized into equal intervals
box plot : uses a number line to display data using mean, quartiles, and extreme values
