Quadratic Functions
7
Quadratic : involving the square and no higher power of the unknown quantity; of the second degree.
Functions : a formula expressing a relation between the angles of a triangle and its sides, as sine or cosine.
Parabola : a plane curve formed by the intersection of a right circular cone with a plane parallel to a generator of the cone; the set of points in a plane that are equidistant from a fixed line and a fixed point in the same plane or in a parallel plane. Equation: y 2= 2 px or x 2= 2 py.
Width : extent from side to side; breadth; wideness.
Steepness : having an almost vertical slope or pitch, or a relatively high gradient, as a hill, an ascent, stairs, etc
Line Graph : a diagram of lines made by connected data points which represent successive changes in the value of a variable quantity or quantities
X axis : the axis, usually horizontal, along which the abscissa is measured and from which the ordinate is measured.
Y axis : the axis, usually vertical, along which the ordinate is measured and from which the abscissa is measured.
