Element : a part or aspect of something abstract
Compound : thing that is composed of two or more separate elements
molecule : a group of atoms bonded together
Atom : the basic unit of a chemical element.
Atomic Number : the number of protons in the nucleus of an atom, which determines the chemical properties of an element and its place in the periodic table.
Atomic mass : the mass of an atom of a chemical element expressed in atomic mass units
Proton : a stable subatomic particle occurring in all atomic nuclei, with a positive electric charge equal in magnitude to that of an electron, but of opposite sign.
Neutron : a subatomic particle of about the same mass as a proton but without an electric charge, present in all atomic nuclei except those of ordinary hydrogen.
Electron : stable subatomic particle with a charge of negative electricity, found in all atoms and acting as the primary carrier of electricity in solids.
Valence Electrons : associated with an atoms
Reactant : substance that takes part in and undergoes change during a reaction.
Products : a substance that is formed as the result of a chemical reaction.
Chemical Reactions : a process that involves rearrangement of the molecular or ionic structure of a substance, as opposed to a change in physical form or a nuclear reaction.
chemical symbol : one or two letter abbreviation for an element
Metal : an element that is shiny and conduct heat and electricity; grouped on the left and middle of the periodic table
Malleable : has the ability of a substance to be rolled or pounded into various shapes
Dmitri Mendeleev : maker of the periodic table
Reactivity : describes how likely an element is to form bonds with other elements.
Ion : an atom that has gained or lost one or more electrons.
Inert : elements and/or compounds that when put together are unable to react
