Air Masses : Is a huge body of air in the lower atmosphere that has similar temperature, humidity, and air pressure at any given height.
Continental : Air masses that form over land.
Tropical : Is warm air masses that form in the tropics and have lower air pressure.
Polar : Cold air masses that form north of 50 degrees north latitude and south of 50 degrees south latitude.
Maritime : Air masses that form over oceans.
Jet Stream : Are bands of high-speed winds about 10 kilometers above Earth's surface.
Stratus : Clouds that form in flat layers.
Cumulus : Clouds that look like cotton.
Cirrus : Wispy, feathery clouds.
Tornado : a rapidly whirling, funnel-shaped Cloud that reaches down from a thunderstorm to touch Earth's surface.
Blizzard : A snowstorm with prolonged winds 56 kilometers per hour or greater and considerable falling or blowing snow that reduces visibility.
Thunder Storm : A small storm often accompanied by heavy precipitation and frequent thunder and lighting.
Lake Effect Snow : Snow falling on the lee side of a lake.
Cyclone : A swirling center of low air pressure.
Anticyclone : High-pressure centers of dry air.
Meteorologist : Scientists who study and try to predict weather.
Storm : A violent disturbance in the atmosphere.
Flood : Is an overflowing of water in a normally dry area.
Drought : A long period of scarce rainfall or dry weather.
Hurricane : Is a tropical cyclone with winds of 119 kilometers or higher.
Storm Surge : The low pressure and high winds of the hurricane over the ocean rises the level of water as much as 6 meters above normal sea level.
Isobars : Are lines joining places on the map that have some air pressure.
Isotherm : Are lines joining places that have the same temperature.
Precipitation : Is any form of water that falls from clouds and reaches earth's surface.
Rain Gauge : An open-ended tube that collects rain.
